Rebel Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Satabdi Roy who was among the group of 20 dissident parliamentarians who snapped ties with the TMC parliamentary party said that “time will tell” what all is left to unfold within the Mamata Banerjee-led party.

“Time will tell. You will get to know everything,” Roy said speaking to reporters at the Kolkata airport when asked about the political crisis within the TMC, after her trip to Delhi during which the dissident MPs declared to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla that they want to be part of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

‘Great Personality’

Responding to Chief Whip of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) in Lok Sabha Kalyan Banerjee’s comments on the rebel parliamentarians, Roy took a jibe at the senior leader saying, “He is a great personality. Can anyone say anything about him? He can say whatever he wants.”

Kalyan Banerjee had claimed on Tuesday morning that all the rebel parliamentarians have joined the BJP.

“They (rebel MPs) went to Bhupender Yadav’s residence, CM Suvendu Adhikari also went there, it means they have joined BJP. They have changed their leader from Mamata Banerjee to Narendra Modi. I will invite each MP to face TMC workers in their constituencies and hear what people there say. Democracy has gone, autocracy is prevailing in West Bengal now,” Banerjee said speaking to reporters.

CID Summons

Speaking about the Crime Investigation Department (CID) summons issued to Abhishek Banerjee, she said, “The CID is calling him for a long time. He will see to it.”

The CID had vitited Abhishek Banerjee’s Kolkata residence on Monday and issued a notice to him. On Tuesday, the state investigation agency also went knocking at the TMC’s Kalighat office, just next to party supremo and former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s residence.
