The Kolkata Metro Railway denied the news reports of ‘shallow foundation’ and ‘poor maintenance’ of Kavi Subhash Metro station.
According to the city Metro office, the claims suggesting that the design of Kavi Subhash Metro station was of shallow or raft foundation type with a depth of 1-3 metres and alleging poor maintenance of the station infrastructure are untrue.

Issuing an official statement, the city Metro today clarified that the information was incorrect. The Kolkata Metro Railway office also clarified that the foundation of Kavi Subhash station was constructed using deep pile foundations extending up to 22 metres, arranged in pile groups comprising 2 to 4 piles. “All design decisions are based on detailed geotechnical investigations following established engineering standards to ensure structural integrity and passenger safety. Furthermore, the maintenance of Metro Railway infrastructure is carried out as per laid down procedures,” stated the metro railway office.
