Cancellation of jobs: HC exempts cancer patient Soma Das
A Division Bench of the HC cancelled the illegal appointments of such a huge number of candidates. The court also ordered fresh recruitment against the posts within 15 days.
Calcutta High Court today directed the WB School Service Commission to make public 4,487 optical marking recognition (OMR) sheets of the Group D recruitment test by 31 January that were allegedly found to have been manipulated and asked the CBI to trace the identity of those persons quickly by quizzing directly the alleged undeserving aspirants, as well as the identity of the persons to whom they had given money for jobs.
With hardly any headway in arrests of the alleged linchpin behind the entire teachers’ recruitment scam, the CBI today came under another round of tough talk by Calcutta High Court over its alleged failure to come up with any breakthrough in booking the alleged kingpin behind the entire scam despite its probe for so many days.
In a terse reaction today, while hearing a case related to SSC recruitment scam, Justice Biswajit Basu of the Calcutta High Court asked why the CBI was not quizzing directly the undeserving aspirants, who got jobs through back-door by shelling out money to deny the deserving ones jobs and who are the persons they had given money to.

In this context, Justice Basu also threw a poser to the SSC counsel by asking how many vacant posts would be created and by what time the SSC could expect to fill up those posts by taking in deserving candidates should these undeserving aspirants be purged and he also wondered on why the SSC was not doing the act of purging on its own and directed the SSC to make public of the 4,487 OMR Sheets for Group D employee recruitment retrieved from Ghaziabad by 31 January
