At a time when West Bengal continues to witness incidents of violence and even murder during elections, and with another electoral exercise approaching, senior Rajyogini BK Usha of the Brahma Kumaris has called for greater spiritual awareness and inner transformation to foster lasting peace in society.
Addressing reporters in Siliguri on Tuesday, she said that through Rajyoga meditation the Brahma Kumaris continuously radiate vibrations of peace and harmony for society and the world. However, she cautioned that such spiritual energy can only be received by those who are open and receptive.

“We always pray for peace ~ including world peace ~ through meditation and by spreading positive vibrations. But some people are unable to receive them due to negativity, violent thoughts and lack of positive energy,” she said, adding that society needs individuals capable of absorbing and carrying forward such constructive vibrations.
Expressing concern over growing emotional distress among the younger generation, she observed that happiness is gradually fading from people’s lives, while children, adolescents and youth are becoming increasingly restless.
She warned that many people are unknowingly slipping into depression and, in extreme cases, some are driven to suicide. The Brahma Kumaris, she said, is working to help individuals overcome such crises through spirituality and by teaching practical ways to remain peaceful and happy. “Spirituality begins where questions remain unanswered,” she remarked.
