Shah asks people to stay alert and ignore rumours of violence

Union home minister Amit Shah today urged people to remain alert and not pay attention to rumours of violence.

He held a road show from Chandannagar Bagbazar to Laxmiganj Bazar in support of BJP-nominated candidate Dipanjan Guha.

Mr Shah criticised the TMC government on issues of corruption, lawlessness, atrocities against women, “cut money” and commissions, rising unemployment, and a lack of progress in industrialisation and agriculture.

The home minister assured corruption-free and transparent governance, job opportunities for educated unemployed youth, and enhanced safety and security for women. He also emphasised the empowerment of women and the preservation of Bengal’s rich traditions of art, culture, literature and heritage.

Mr Shah further remarked that a section of the Media is spreading rumours of violence on polling day and during counting. He urged people not to panic or be misled by such false claims. He added that the CRPF would remain deployed in Bengal for seven more days after the election.
