In view of the Bandh call given by Binay Tamang in the Hills, the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education will make special arrangements for all the students from the Hills, who are appearing for the madhyamik exams, starting on Thursday.

According to the board there are approximately 9,000 students, who will be appearing in the exams this year at approximately 60 centres.

WBBSE president Ramanuj Ganguly (in photo) assured that he had a word with Mr Tamang and there has been assured by the leader that there would be no hindrance for the madhyamik examinees.

Talking to the media, the board president Ganguly said, “I want to tell all the young examinees that this may be the first big test for them but this is not the last. They will come across many more in the years to come, allaying all fears the young minds may have in facing the Class X exams.

Mr Ganguly said that according to reports all the venues for the exams have been checked and there are 6,98,724 students appearing for the exams this year with 40,500 examiners and 1,153 head examiners to supervise the exams. The board expects to come out with the results by the last week of May.

The board president also said that there are 987 students with special needs, who are appearing in this year’s exams. He especially mentioned about a student on dialysis, from the airport area, for whom the board will make special arrangements so that the examinee can appear in the tests.

Mr Ganguly also informed that 2790-95 schools, which will be venues for exams, have been fitted with CCTV cameras and he hoped that the schools, which are lagging behind, will complete the process by the time the tests start.

With the adenoviruses causing havoc among kids, the president said that the board has taken sufficient measures with sick rooms at every centre and health officers and workers in place to take care of any eventuality.

On the running of the app, Elixam, developed by the board for the purpose of managing the exams hassle-free, Mr Ganguly said that the board had done a test run of it on 18 February and that there will be 12 men who will be working at the control room with the help of six dashboards.
