The division is said to have fetched Rs 180 crore by carrying goods which is Rs 50 crore more than that earned between April and 22 December, 2024. Not only limiting its resources to these commodities, Sealdah Division has touched a milestone in yet another field of freight maximising the use of its fleet of 42 wagons. The division has witnessed growth in a relatively new area of freight of organic fertilisers from Chitpur station and Titagarh. “Organic fertilisers are being transported from this part of West Bengal to other places like Dalkhola, Falakata Purnia, Chhapara and so on. Sometimes it is also sent to Kharagpur, Cossimbazar and Malda. But mostly these organic fertilisers are sent to part of the North Frontier Railway. The main commodities of freight earnings in Sealdah are attributed to jute and organic fertilizers,” elaborated the official.
Apart from organic fertilisers, Chitpur is also being utilised for unloading of automobiles by the division.
