Dignitaries from Norway visits St Olav’s Church in Serampore
As a part of preparations for the Millennial anniversary in 2030 of the Norway king Olav Haraldsson (995-1030), better known as St Olav, has begun.
A replica of London’s Big Ben clock tower was unveiled at Serampore’s ward no 27 at Netaji More by Serampore MP Kalyan Banerjee. On the occasion Mr Banerjee spoke on the ongoing development work in his constituency.
The chairman and also the councillor of Ward no 27 of Serampore Municipality said that besides implementing the beneficiary schemes initiated by the state chief minister Mamata Banerjee, a lot of stress have been put on cleanliness and beautification of different suburban towns in Hooghly district as directed by the state chief minister.
Footpaths have been constructed on either side of the roads, every area have been lighted up and in every square high mast lights have been set up. In Ward no 27 previously, a statue of Netaji on horse back was set up on the road junction and the junction was renamed as Netaji More. To further beautify Netaji More a replica of Big Ben has been set up at a cost of 20 lakhs
