A confident India is up and ready to take on Australia in the FIH Hockey Pro League in their seventh match of the tournament here on Saturday. .
Sonia Bauri, a third year student of Triveni Devi Bhalotia (TDB) College in Raniganj has been selected along with seven other students for the prestigious Republic Day parade in New Delhi on 26 January, this year. A total of 44 students, throughout the state have been selected for the preRepublic Day parade held in Bhubaneswar in Odisha recently. Out of which, a total eight students have been selected for the final Republic Day parade in New Delhi and Sonia Bauri of Raniganj is one of them.
She had enrolled her name in the NSS unit of the college and her name was selected by the college in the primary list of 44 students, initially. “I love working for the people and have joined the NSS unit of the college during the first year. This year, I have been selected amongst eight students from Bengal for the Republic Day parade. It is a great feeling and in future too I wish to work for the society,” she added. Her father is a daily-wage earner and was unable to educate his children.
As Sonia was meritorious and good at her studies, her maternal uncles brought her to Raniganj and admitted her in school and college here. “I have also heard that eight students of the state, including a student of Ra niganj and another from the backward Junglemahal area have been selected for the prestigious parade on 26th January in New Delhi. I wish her all success in her life and as the local MLA, feel proud for her.
