According to the initial plan, the railway line from Arambagh will reach Radhanagar in Khanakul via Goundarhati and Chaker Mor. The survey work is expected to begin this year. At present, trains run from Howrah to Goghat via Arambagh. Once work at Bhaba Dighi is completed, trains will run up to Kamarpur, establishing railway connectivity between Tarkeswar and Bishnupur as well.

The project to establish rail connectivity along the Tarkeswar–Arambagh–Goghat–Khanakul (Radhanagar)–Bishnupur route was originally taken up when Mamata Banerjee was the railway minister.
According to a notification issued by the railway board on 27 January, an amount of Rs 81 lakh has been sanctioned for carrying out the survey for the proposed 27-kilometre railway track.
Railway sources said the survey cost will be met from the regular budget of Indian Railways, with approval already received from the finance department of the railway ministry. The survey work is expected to begin shortly.
Pursura BJP MLA Biman Ghosh and Khanakul BJP MLA Sushanta Ghosh had earlier met the railway minister in New Delhi several times, urging extension of the railway line up to Radhanagar in Khanakul. Following the final approval of the project and survey, both MLAs garlanded the statue of Raja Rammohan Roy at Radhanagar.
