Across the nine Assembly constituencies of the district, 3,06,460 forms have been categorised as “uncollectible,” meaning the names of these voters may either be removed from the rolls or corrected later.

A total of 23,27,111 forms were distributed across all nine constituencies — Asansol South, Asansol North, Jamuria, Kulti, Raniganj, Barabani, Pandaveswar, Durgapur South and Durgapur West — achieving 100 per cent coverage. Of these, 20,20,476 forms (about 87 per cent) have been digitised.

Durgapur East leads the district with nearly 90 per cent (89.81 per cent) of work completed, while Asansol North and Kulti lag behind.

According to DM Ponnambalam, of the 3,06,460 voters marked uncollectible, 1,31,160 have permanently relocated, 96,547 are deceased, and 71,361 could not be traced at their registered addresses, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) unable to locate them.

Among the nine constituencies, Asansol North and Kulti recorded the highest proportion of uncollectible forms, at 14.73 per cent and 14.67 per cent respectively. Asansol North is represented by senior TMC leader and state law, judiciary and labour minister Moloy Ghatak.

Raniganj and Jamuria reported the highest numbers of relocated voters, with 19,678 and 19,385 respectively. In contrast, Durgapur East recorded the lowest proportion of uncollectible forms at 10.19 per cent. The constituency is represented by TMC heavyweight and state panchayat minister Pradip Majumdar.

The Election Commission of India will publish the draft voter list later this month, followed by the final list next year.
