Children with special needs present cultural show on NALSA Day
The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) celebrated NALSA Day with special needs children at Chinsurah Rabindra Bhavan on Wednesday.
On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, a special mental health awareness programme was organised last Friday at St. Joseph’s Convent, Chandannagar. The event was jointly organised by the Hooghly District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Hooghly, and the mental health team of the CMOH, Hooghly.

On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, a special mental health awareness programme was organised last Friday at St. Joseph’s Convent, Chandannagar. The event was jointly organised by the Hooghly District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Hooghly, and the mental health team of the CMOH, Hooghly.
The programme, held at the 150-year-old educational institution, was attended by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Hooghly district, Aseemanand Mandal; secretary, DLSA Hooghly, Manali Samanta; psychiatrist Dr Debashis Das; and psychologist Jhilam Banerjee.

The speakers discussed in detail the mental health challenges faced by modern-day teenagers, such as anger, excessive academic pressure, examination anxiety, and various forms of social stress. The importance of maintaining good mental health and seeking timely support was also highlighted.

Psychologist Jhilam Banerjee taught students simple techniques for practising mindfulness, improving concentration, and meditation. The session also included various breathing exercises to help students calm their minds and manage stress.
Through this programme, DLSA Hooghly reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the mental well-being of adolescents and emphasised the need to enhance mental health awareness in educational institutions.
