A 14-year-old girl was allegedly sexually harassed by an auto-rickshaw driver in Kolkata last Wednesday evening. The incident took place near Phulbagan crossing, within the jurisdiction of the Phulbagan Police Station. FIR against the accused driver was lodged on Saturday. That is three days after the incident occurred.
The girl had gone to Maniktala at around 6:30 pm on Wednesday to drop her brother off for his studies. She was returning home when this incident took place.

According to police sources, the auto-rickshaw driver asked the girl to sit in the front seat beside him, stating that the back seat was already occupied by another passenger. Shortly after she sat in the front, the driver allegedly began to deliberately molest and harass her.

The girl was terrified during the incident. After reaching home, she broke down in tears. Then she told her family what had happened. The family then filed formal complaint at Phulbagan Police Station.
Police have registered FIR and initiated an investigation into incident. Investigators are currently examining CCTV footage from the area on the day of the incident.
