KMC holds meeting on monsoon preparedness
With monsoons about to set in the state shortly, a high level meeting was held at Kolkata Municipal Corporation today to discuss the presentations for the forthcoming rainy season.
With the arrival of the monsoons in parts of South Bengal, including Kolkata in the next few days, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation kicked off a borough wise course of action for the rainy season.

On Monday, the KMC administrator Smita Pandey held a meeting with the councillors of boroughs in north Kolkata. During the meeting, particular emphasis was given to handle situations of waterlogging in vulnerable pockets like Thanthania, Amherst Street among others. Two days later, the civic body today held a meeting focussing few boroughs of south Kolkata, including VI-X and XV. During the meeting, the municipal corporation officials, headed by the administrator Smita Pandey, discussed the initiatives to be taken during the upcoming monsoons.

Tomorrow, the KMC has called a meeting with councillors of boroughs VII, X-XVI. Notably, till last year, the monsoon meeting used to be held for all the 144 wards together. The meeting led by the mayor, used to be held only one day, including detailed and a comprehensive plan for all the boroughs. Borough-wise or pocket-wise meetings were held by the deputy mayor Atin Ghosh for dengue prevention in various wards of the city.
