KMC bans digging the roads for 3.5 months

Monsoon is expected to hit South Bengal on Thursday, according to the Alipore Meteorological Department forecast. The Kolkata Municipality (KMC) took a big decision to provide relief to the common man during the monsoon season.

The Kolkata Municipality has issued a circular stating that from 15th of this month to 30th of October no digging will be allowed on any road or sidewalk in the city of Kolkata.
The municipality has banned any kind of digging. Because, in the rainy season, water accumulates on the same road and ordinary people suffer in mud. The situation is even more serious if there are ditches on the roads. The suffering of the common man is further aggravated. And the festive season will come as soon as the rains subside. Even then, if the roads are dug, people will have difficulty.
Therefore, a notification has been issued on behalf of Kolkata Municipality stating that no organization will be able to dig the road in any way except in case of urgent need. Even in case of emergency, permission has to be obtained from the Municipality in advance for digging roads. The city commissioner has issued a guideline to this effect.
