The Hooghly district health administration has rolled out a strengthened system for Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) to bring essential healthcare services directly to villages and hard-to-reach areas.
Under the new guidelines, MMUs will operate five to six days a week, offering a wide range of services including OPD care, NCD screening, maternal and child health check-ups, free diagnostic tests, telemedicine consultations, and health awareness sessions. Each camp will run from 9.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.

The MMUs are staffed with doctors, nurses, lab technicians, pharmacists, and support teams to ensure comprehensive care at every location. The local administration and PRIs will assist in community mobilisation and camp arrangements.

A district-level monitoring mechanism, led by the district magistrate and the CMOH, will ensure quality service delivery, regular reporting, uninterrupted drug supply, and strict adherence to safety standards.
This enhanced MMU system aims to expand healthcare access, reduce out-of-pocket expenses, and ensure that essential services reach the most underserved communities of Hooghly.
Today, all the MMUs were inaugurated except the one at Tarakeswar. Minister Becharam Manna inaugurated the MMU at Ratanpur in Singur today.
