Citizens of parts of South Kolkata might have to arrange for alternate sources of drinking water this weekend. The drinking water supply by Kolkata Municipal Corporation is unlikely to be available this Saturday following some works on the mega plant on 31 January.
The areas that could get affected include parts of Tollygunge, Behala and large parts of Garden Reach. The information was shared by Mayor Firhad Hakim during the monthly meeting at the KMC House today. According to the mayor, a massive work on various booster pumping stations is to take place on 31 January. Following the works, the drinking water supply in Garden Reach and other parts of South Kolkata would be temporarily suspended. The boroughs that might be affected include 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 where drinking water supply would not be available from the KMC.
