Brainware University held a three-day long international conference titled Green Bio-Merge 2024, a ground-breaking initiative to explore the intersection of health, environment, biotechnology, and entrepreneurship at the university campus last week.

It was a CSIR sponsored programme. The conference, which took place on 22-24 February, witnessed a convergence of distinguished experts, researchers, and academicians from around the globe, marking a significant milestone in the pursuit of a sustainable and healthy future.

The conference featured a diverse range of subthemes, including Nano-biotechnology, immune-technology, neurobiology, agricultural biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, medical biotechnology, microbial biotechnology, biodiversity and conservation, sustainable development, waste management, water process engineering, biochemical engineering, regenerative medicine and cell therapy, biopharmaceuticals, computational biology, alternative medicine, AYUSH and food biotechnology.

Renowned personalities from various domains graced the event. Prof Ajoy Kumar Ray, Prof Sadhan Kumar Ghosh, Prof Tapan Kumar Mandal, Dr S B Roy, Prof Swapna Mukherjee, Prof Raju Basak, Dr Sudipta Narayan Roy, Dr Ashok Kanti Sanyal, Dr Bimal Das, Dr Jayato Nayak, and Dr Sankha Chakrabarty were among the distinguished dignitaries who shared their insights.

Keynote speakers included experts such as Professor Jeffrey H Withey, Professor Byong-Hun Jeon, scientist F Hemanta Koley, Ayumu OHNO and research assistant professor Subhabrata Dev, each shedding light on their areas of expertise ranging from enteric pathogens to environmental engineering and infectious diseases.

The organizing secretary, Dr Sayantan Ghosh, highlighted the significance of Green Bio-Merge 2024 as the most notable international gathering in recent times. He commended the diverse array of discussions and collaborations that took place, marking a pivotal moment in the field of biotechnology and environmental sciences.

Dr Sandhimita Mondal, the convenor of the conference and associate professor in the department of biotechnology, expressed satisfaction at how the conference reached new heights. She stated that it not only showcased the latest advancements but also provided a clear pathway for future students and researchers to contribute meaningfully to the field.
