The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday issued a notification detailing the process of filing prayer for inclusion and exclusion of names on the electoral rolls at the tribunals set up as part of the Special intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday issued a notification detailing the process of filing prayer for inclusion and exclusion of names on the electoral rolls at the tribunals set up as part of the Special intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

The Commission, in its notification, said that electors under adjudication, whose names have been deleted by the judicial officers, can file their prayers for inclusion of names on the electoral rolls in both online and offline formats.

The ECI notification said to avail of the online option for filing petitions at the tribunals, persons whose names are on the adjudication list would have to visit the Commission website and click on the tab on “Submit appeals for individuals” with their EPIC numbers to file prayers for inclusion of their names on the electoral rolls.

Similarly, those seeking deletion of names too, have to file prayers giving their EPIC numbers.

The voters under adjudication, who file prayers for tribunals online, would have to address them to the DEOs (District magistrates) or SDOs (Sub-divisional officers).

As far as the offline format is concerned, people would have to submit hard copies of their applications mentioning their respective EPIC numbers.

The DEOs would complete the formalities according to the regulations of the Commission under the Representations of the People Act, 1950.
