ISKCON has value added to this year’s Rath Yatra festival in Durgapur industrial town by bringing out scenes from the entire life of Lord Rama, his family and sage Viswamitra at dedicated pavilions for the devotees and visitors.
The organizers said, the exhibition accommodates deities of the lead Ramayana characters depicting the key episodes of the epic, including Rama’s childhood, his journey with Sage Vishwamitra, Sita Swayamvara and their 14 years of exile, Sita’s abduction, Hanuman’s Lanka expedition, Ravana’s defeat, and Rama’s return to Ayodhya.

ISKCON’s chief servitor in Durgapur, Awdhurya Chandra Das said: “Our aim is to present Lord Rama’s ideals of sacrifice, truth and dharma to the new generation.” He added: “Through light installations of models, artwork and a live tableau, visitors will not just see but also experience the message of Ramayana.”
The temporary ‘Masir Bari’ of Lord Jagannatha ~ a replica modelled on Gundicha temple, a Jain temple of Rajasthan has been set up on Akbar Road football ground in A-Zone part of the Steel Township here.
ISKON has been organising a separate Ratha Yatra since 11 years, away from Durgapur’s 60-year-old Rath Yatra attracts Rajiv Gandhi fair ground in B-Zone area. Both the arrangements attract thousands of devotees and revellers every year.
Organizers like Naba Das of the tribal care branch of ISKCON is the key architect behind blending Ramayana with the chariot festival believes, the newer initiative will also inspire children to connect with Indian heritage and values during the festival.
