Mr Soumen Adhikar, the chief Sebayet (chief priest) of Jagannath temple Serampore said it was a long-standing demand of the people of Serampore to have the presence of the chief minister on the occasion of Ratha Yatra.
“I personally approached the chief minister at her Kalighat residence with an earnest request for her presence on the auspicious occasion. She promptly agreed to be present for the same.”

Mr Suman Ghosh the BJP district president, said: “We welcome the visit of the chief minister on the occasion of Ratha Yatra.
Mr Subendu Das, inspector-in-charge, Serampore police station, said CCTV cameras will be installed, drones will be put in use, entry and exit points towards Mahesh, Serampore will be restricted and the movement of the public will also be controlled to avoid any untoward incident during the chief minister’s visit to Serampore.
