Two teenage girls, kidnapped from two different locations in East Burdwan, were rescued by the police from Kerala and Bihar and they were handed over to their respective families.

One girl was kidnapped from Burdwan PS area on 26 February and another had eloped from neighbouring Bhatar PS area on 28 February. The families had lodged complaints about the kidnapping of the girls. The police said that one girl was rescued from Erattupetta in Kerala and the other was rescued from Ramakrishnapur in Bihar.

A three-member team of CBI sleuths, following an instruction by the Calcutta High Court has initiated a probe into the mysterious disappearance of a teenage girl from a locality in the Raina PS area since 9 August, 2023. The CBI has constituted an investigation team headed by its DSP, Rajendra Hemant Kujur. The HC has asked the CBI to table its report on the suspiciously missing girl by 13 March. The CBI team visited the girl’s family in Raina last Tuesday.
