Abhishek Banerjee, national general secretary of Trinamul Congress and party’s MP from Diamond Harbour visited a Sebaashray 2 camp at Bishnupur, which falls under the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha seat.

Abhishek Banerjee, national general secretary of Trinamul Congress and party’s MP from Diamond Harbour visited a Sebaashray 2 camp at Bishnupur, which falls under the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha seat.

Mr Banerjee will inaugurate two Sebaashray camps at Nandigram Blocks I and II on 15 January, 2026. “People from Nandigram have requested me to have Sebaashray camps. I will go to East Midnapore to attend a political meeting. After this I will go to Nandigram to open two camps,” said Mr Banerjee.

Taking a cue from the success of Sebaashray 2 camps, Partha Bhowmik, party’s Lok Sabha MP will set up Sebaashray camps at Barrackpore Lok Sabha seat.

He put flower petals at the statues of Raja Rammohan Roy, Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and Mother Teresa. He paid respect to a statue of Lord Buddha.

The Sebaashray 2 initiative, a brain child of Mr Banerjee, started on 1 December at Maheshtala. Then it moved to Metiabruz, Budge Budge and now is being held in Bishnupur. It will be held in Falta, Satgachia and Budge Budge. It will end on 28 January, 2026. From 24 to 28 follow-up camps will be held. The camps are held in each Assembly segment for seven days.

Mr Banerjee shook hands with the visitors, talked to some of them and waved at them. There was an overwhelming response from the people. He distributed wheel chairs among some specially-abled people.
