2 Jharkhand snatchers held after a dramatic chase

Two inter-state snatchers were caught after a 19-minute dramatic chase by the local police in the town Wednesday afternoon.

A firearm also was seized from their possession.

Police claimed they had been receiving complaints of snatching by miscreants riding a motorcycle, targeting pedestrians, mostly women, in different parts of the city during the day.

Based on these complaints, the New Township police station had already begun an investigation and the CCTV grabs detected the miscreants in a closed factory colony. They were moving slowly on a bike that was bearing a forged registration number, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Subir Roy said.

As the cops rushed in, a chase ensued. During this, one police vehicle suffered substantial damage.

Eventually, both suspects were arrested and taken to the PS. The arrested individuals have been identified as Pramod Goswami, a resident of Jharkhand, and Ajay Kumar of Chittaranjan.
