Exterior design: Bold, modern, confident

Mahindra has taken inspiration from its earlier concepts, the XEV 9e and the XUV.e8, to create a fresh and expressive design for the XEV 9S. The SUV follows the brand’s Heartcore design philosophy characterised by upright proportions, glossy surfaces, athletic lines that give it a confident stance.

At the front, the SUV features a closed-off grille, triangular LED headlamps, and connected LED daytime running lights (DRLs) that instantly signal its electric identity. The long bonnet and muscular fenders add a sense of power and presence.

From the side, the wheelbase and substantial front and rear overhangs maximise interior space which is essential for a three-row SUV.

At the rear, smoked LED tail lamps, a redesigned bumper, and Mahindra’s new butterfly emblem, exclusive to INGLO-based EVs, complete the look.

Practicality hasn’t been overlooked. With 205mm of ground clearance and 222mm battery clearance, the XEV 9S maintains typical SUV proportions. Storage is impressive, too: a 150-litre frunk (front trunk) and up to 527 litres of boot space with the third row folded make it a practical choice for families.

Interior design: Space, technology, comfort

Step inside and the XEV 9S is designed to impress. The cabin features a coast-to-coast triple-screen layout including a digital driver display, a central infotainment touchscreen, dedicated passenger display.

For rear-seat passengers, there are two additional screens along with BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) mounts making long journeys entertaining for everyone.

The panoramic skyroof, soft-touch materials, laminated acoustic glass enhance the sense of openness and keep external noise to a minimum. Even base variants come generously equipped with sliding and reclining second-row seats. It has a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, climate modes like Keep Mode, Camp Mode and PawPal which ensures comfort for pets.

Higher trims offer luxury touches such as a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, dual-zone climate control, leatherette upholstery, multi-colour ambient lighting and an AR-based VisionX head-up display.

Practical features like the co-driver Boss Mode, ventilated seats for the first two rows, a Lounge Desk, second-row sunshades make the cabin a truly family-friendly space.
