Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav shared that the state is strengthening its textile and garment sector by efficiently utilising its abundant resources, thereby increasing textile production and employment opportunities. He noted that the textile industry plays a significant role in strengthening the state’s economy.

Addressing the Round Table Dialogue organised during Bharat Tex 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Thursday, Dr Yadav said the country’s first PM MITRA Park, the foundation stone for which Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid in the Dhar district of MP, is expected to generate direct and indirect employment for nearly three lakh people and benefit more than six lakh cotton-growing farmers in the Malwa-Nimar region.

Inviting industrialists and investors to establish industries in the state, he said that those who come to Madhya Pradesh eventually make it their home. He added that the “Heart of India” warmly welcomes entrepreneurs and investors.

Chief Minister Dr Yadav said that Bharat Mandapam had become the Kumbh of the textile industry, bringing together representatives of global brands, investors, industrialists, policymakers and fashion designers. He said the Madhya Pradesh government is fully committed to working in line with the Government of India’s vision for the textile sector.

He observed that the present era belongs to branding and packaging. Referring to the legacy of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar, he said she initiated the production of Maheshwari sarees to provide sustainable livelihoods to local weavers. Maheshwari sarees continue to enjoy immense popularity both in India and abroad, while Chanderi sarees also hold a distinguished position in the textile industry. Self-reliance and employment-oriented industries remain a defining feature of Madhya Pradesh’s identity.

He said that the state has established itself as a leading hub for zari, silk, man-made fibres and cotton, with immense potential for further growth in the textile and garment sectors.

He highlighted the state’s robust law and order, abundant skilled workforce and harmonious labour relations as key factors contributing to a favourable industrial environment.

The Chief Minister noted that the state government has honoured all the commitments made to industrialists and investors. Subsidy amounts due across sectors have been transferred directly to beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. All outstanding liabilities up to May 2026 have been cleared, and nearly ₹5,500 crore has been disbursed as subsidies to industries over the past one-and-a-half years.

He further noted that Madhya Pradesh has made significant strides in the green energy sector, with ample availability of electricity generated from solar power and pumped storage projects.

The Chief Minister also held one-to-one meetings with leading textile industry representatives to discuss investment, production, exports and employment generation.

On the occasion, Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), the Manmade and Technical Textiles Export Promotion Council (MATEXIL), and the Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL) to strengthen cooperation in the sector.
