Ahead of the annual Rath Yatra in Puri, Reliance Industries, in collaboration with the district administration, has launched a comprehensive support initiative to assist pilgrims and frontline personnel during the nine-day festival beginning July 16.

Under its Puri Rath Yatra Seva Services programme, the company will provide assistance in food distribution (Anna Seva), public support infrastructure, sanitation, volunteer deployment, community outreach and technology-enabled coordination to facilitate smoother management of the pilgrimage, which is expected to draw lakhs of devotees from across the country.

The Rath Yatra, one of India’s largest religious gatherings, marks the ceremonial procession of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple, attracting millions of devotees every year.

Reliance said the initiative is intended to supplement the administration’s efforts by supporting frontline personnel and strengthening essential public services during the festival. The company said the programme is aligned with its “We Care” philosophy and focuses on enhancing nutrition, sanitation, safety and accessibility for pilgrims.

“Service to humanity is service to God. This is something we deeply believe in,” Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant M. Ambani said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Building on our long-standing commitment to serve people, especially during occasions when millions gather, we consider it a privilege to contribute to the Rath Yatra. By serving pilgrims and personnel during the festival, we believe we are serving the divine. We remain committed to supporting nutrition, safety and sanitation while extending a helping hand to the administration,” he said.

The initiative is expected to complement the extensive logistical arrangements being put in place by the Puri administration for the smooth conduct of the festival, one of the country’s most significant annual pilgrimages.
