Senior BJP leader Sanjay Tandon on Tuesday led a delegation of the Teachers’ Union of City Beautiful to Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria and submitted a memorandum highlighting the long-pending demands of teachers including immediate clearance of the probation period of the 2015 batch teachers serving under the Chandigarh Education Department.
The delegation urged the Administrator to intervene and ensure the early resolution of the issues concerning the teachers. The memorandum sought immediate clearance of the probation period of the 2015 batch teachers and release of all pending financial benefits and consequential arrears of the 2015 batch by the end of the second quarter of the current financial year.

Speaking after the meeting, Tandon said, “Teachers are the backbone of our education system and deserve timely justice on their legitimate demands. We requested the Hon’ble Governor and UT Administrator to address these long-pending issues on priority so that teachers can perform their duties with greater motivation and peace of mind.”
He informed that the delegation also reiterated in the memorandum the demand for enhancement of casual leave for UT cadre teachers from the existing entitlement to 20 days per annum, implementation of the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) for all UT cadre employees of the Education Department, and extension of the 7th Central Pay Commission (7th CPC) benefits to Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers recruited in 2023.
He further said, “The demands placed before the Administrator are genuine and concern the welfare and dignity of hundreds of teachers. We are confident that the Chandigarh Administration will consider them sympathetically and take expeditious steps towards their resolution.”
The Teachers’ Union thanked Sanjay Tandon for extending his support and raising their concerns before the UT Administration. The delegation comprised PK Rao, President, Teachers’ Union of City Beautiful; Rupali Sharma, Vice President; Ritu Lakhanpal, General Secretary; Rajesh Moudgil, Legal Advisor; and Badri Parshad Kaushik, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh(BMS) Chandigarh Vibhag Pramukh.
