Police in Telangana are searching for a 35-year-old man accused of killing six people in a single night. The victims include his wife, his two young sons, and three members of a family that had filed a case against him under child protection laws.

Twelve police teams are looking for B. Rajkumar. The killings took place at Daivalaguda in Shabad mandal, Rangareddy district, on the night of July 10.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Yogesh Gautam denied rumors on social media claiming Rajkumar had been arrested. He said special teams are working hard to catch him.

Officers are using technical experts, railway police, and local intelligence sources. Rajkumar switched off his phone around midnight on July 10. This has forced police to rely on CCTV footage to trace his movements.

Teams are checking camera footage from bus stations and railway stations. They believe he may have fled to another state. Officers are focusing on highways leading to Karnataka and other nearby states. Police also searched hotels and lodges along the Hyderabad-Bengaluru highway.

Future City police announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh for information leading to his arrest. Police Commissioner Tarun Joshi suspended sub-inspector Ramesh from Shabad police station. Ramesh had handled the earlier case against Rajkumar.

How the killings happened

Police say Rajkumar carried out the murders between 11:30 pm and midnight. He struck at two locations about six kilometers apart. Around 11:50 pm, he called his father and told him what he had done.

His father immediately went to Shabad police station to report his son’s confession.

The victims include a minor girl, her mother, and her grandmother. Rajkumar also killed his wife Sarita and their two sons, aged four and one and a half. Police say he stabbed all six victims with a knife and then slit their throats.

Investigators say Rajkumar started the attack at a house on Kummariguda Road in Shabad. This was the home of the 17-year-old girl who had filed a case against him earlier this year. He allegedly killed her mother Lakshmi and grandmother Rukkama at that location. He then took the girl to Daivalaguda village, roughly six kilometers away, and killed her there.

Early findings suggest there was no sexual assault before the murder.

Background of the case

Rajkumar and his parents lived near the girl’s family for years. He moved away about six months ago with his wife and two sons.

In May, police booked Rajkumar under Sections 11 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. He had allegedly stalked and sexually harassed the girl.

He was released on bail last month. Police believe the killings were carried out in revenge over that case.
