Samajwadi Party National President, reacting to the BJP’s 35 crore plantation campaign, alleged that for the BJP, tree plantation is actually a “corruption” program. “This isn’t about planting 35 crore trees, but rather a secret BJP plan to earn at least Rs 10 per tree, totaling Rs 350 crore,” he said.

Akhilesh Yadav, in a statement here on Sunday, said that those who haven’t left the Lord Ram Temple, how will they leave their gardens and orchards?

“Corruption is rampant under the BJP government. Every department and every function is rife with corruption. Under the BJP government, schemes are designed to perpetrate corruption. In the past 10 years, the government has planted trees only on paper; these trees are nowhere to be seen on the ground. Even those that have been planted have withered away without water. Every year, the government comes up with a new, corrupt scheme in the name of tree plantation. After the budget is distributed, the campaign ends. Then, for the rest of the year, the government cares neither for the trees nor for the environment. Under this government, illegal felling of trees and forests is taking place,” the SP president claimed.
Mr. Yadav said that a serious environmental crisis is emerging. “Every kind of pollution is increasing. Along with air pollution, water pollution is emerging as a big problem. The BJP government made false promises of cleaning the rivers. The budget allocated for cleaning the rivers also fell prey to corruption. Mother Ganga river was not cleaned nor were Ganga ji’s tributaries cleaned. Yamuna river is badly polluted. All the rivers in the state are struggling for their existence. Gomti river in Lucknow was cleaned during the Samajwadi Party government. An example of river cleaning was set by building a world-class Gomti riverfront, but the BJP government ruined the Gomti riverfront,” he further added.
