According to Dhambola police station sources, Babu Singh Damor’s daughters Heena (24), Ishita (15), son Prateek (20) and their cousin Raunak (20), along with Rajveer Singh and Jai Singh of the related families, were taking a fun bath in an anicut near the government school playground in the Likhi-Badi village. They were inadvertently trapped in the deeper zone of the water body and drowned while trying to save each other.

Hearing some children present, along the embankment, raising an alarm for help, some passers-by and locals rushed to the spot to rescue the victims. However, they could only save and bring back two people—Jai Singh and Rajveer Singh—to safety, while three girls and a boy drowned. The duo was admitted to the Government Hospital at Simalwara. Later, the police and local rescuers fished out the bodies of the deceased.
