Senior BJP leader Sanjay Tandon on Wednesday congratulated the entire Chandigarh education fraternity after the Union Territory retained its position as the top-performing state/UT in school education for the fourth consecutive year in the Performance Grading Index (PGI) 2.0 Report 2025-26 released by the Union Ministry of Education.
Describing the achievement as a matter of immense pride for every resident of Chandigarh, Tandon said the city has once again demonstrated that a shared commitment to quality education, efficient governance and dedicated teamwork can set national benchmarks.

He noted that Chandigarh has not only maintained its leadership for the fourth successive year but has also become the lone state or Union Territory in the country to secure the prestigious ‘Uttam-3’ grade this year, placing it a full grade ahead of every other state and UT.

“This remarkable accomplishment shows the collective dedication of our teachers, students, parents, school managements, education officers, administrative officials and every individual associated with the education sector. Their relentless efforts, sincerity and commitment have enabled Chandigarh to emerge as the country’s undisputed leader in school education,” he said in a statement.
He added that the consistent improvement in the city’s educational performance across key parameters such as learning outcomes, access, infrastructure, equity, governance and teacher training is a testimony to Chandigarh’s strong institutional framework and its unwavering focus on academic excellence.
Tandon also welcomed Chandigarh’s inclusion among the country’s top-performing districts in the ‘Uttam-2’ category, saying it further strengthens the city’s reputation as a model for educational development and effective implementation of reforms.
Congratulating all stakeholders, Tandon said: “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to every teacher, student, parent, education administrator, support staff and officer whose hard work has made this historic achievement possible. This honour belongs to every citizen who has contributed, directly or indirectly, towards strengthening Chandigarh’s education system.”
Expressing confidence in the city’s future, he urged everyone to continue striving for even greater excellence.
