Police in Saharsa district of Bihar carried out a major raid against an alleged sex trafficking racket on Tuesday. The operation, conducted in the Bharatiya Nagar area, led to the detention of 18 people, including four minor girls.

The operation involved joint team from Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, Cyber Police Station, and Sadar Police Station. Police acted on a specific tip-off before launching the raid.

The operation was led by Cyber DSP Kalyan Anand. It took place around 11:30 am, after police verified confidential inputs regarding suspected illegal activities at the location.

What police recovered during the search

During the search, police recovered objectionable materials along with several suspicious tablets.

These items are currently being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.

Who was detained

According to police, the operation resulted in the detention of 10 women, four minor girls, and four young men. However, several suspects managed to escape before officers could apprehend them.

Police confirmed that efforts are now underway to identify the individuals who fled the scene. Legal action will be initiated against them once they are identified.

Area was already under watch

DSP Kalyan Anand said this particular area had been under police surveillance for some time. He revealed that a similar raid had taken place at the same location just a few days earlier. During that previous operation, several premises had been sealed.

Anand issued a warning regarding these sealed properties. He said that if illegal activities resume at those locations, strict legal action will be taken against both the owners and operators involved.

Special attention for the minor girls

The four minor girls detained during the operation have been placed under special care. Authorities are expected to follow standard legal procedures applicable to minors, particularly those who may be victims of trafficking.

DSP Anand reiterated that some individuals managed to flee the scene during the raid. Police are actively working to identify these individuals.
