Days after two FIRs were registered against Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee over the ‘Sebashraay’ project, a fresh complaint has now been lodged by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Abhijit Das.

The complaint has been lodged at the Parulia Coastal Police Station in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district alleging large-scale financial irregularities and misuse of government medicines.

The complaint has also named Banerjee’s personal assistant Sumit Roy, Falta stongman Jahangir, the then District Magistrate of South 24 Parganas, and several Health Department officials.

The BJP leader claimed that on June 10, local BJP workers recovered a large quantity of medicines buried underground at Hinchaberiya in Sarisha, South 24 Parganas. He alleged that although police from Parulia Coastal Police Station collected samples from the site, no case was registered.

Das claimed that the recovered medicines were linked to the Sebashraay project, prompting his demand for a fair investigation into the alleged financial irregularities.

The complaint further alleges that Banerjee and his associates were involved in a criminal conspiracy by operating health camps without the required permissions.

It claims that the camps provided medical services through fraud and deception, using unauthorised medicines and diagnostic equipment, thereby endangering public health.

According to the administration, the Sebashraay camps in Diamond Harbour did not have the necessary government approval or licence.

The Health Department has initiated a suo motu inquiry, while the state government has sought a detailed report on the matter.
