Fresh claims have surfaced in the investigation into the killing of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal, with police now examining whether the prime accused, Siya Goyal, had secretly married her boyfriend months before her planned wedding to the victim.
The alleged marriage, if verified, could become a key part of the prosecution’s case as investigators continue to probe whether Agarwal’s death at Lohagad Fort was the outcome of a planned conspiracy. Police have not officially confirmed the claim and are examining documents and other evidence.

Police verify alleged marriage under Special Marriage Act
According to sources cited by NDTV, Goyal and her boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, are believed to have registered their marriage about four months ago. The development assumes significance because Goyal had become engaged to Agarwal in February, while the wedding was scheduled for November.
Investigators are checking whether the couple legally registered their marriage under the Special Marriage Act. Officials are confirming whether an official marriage certificate exists.
Police are also questioning two of Goyal’s college friends who allegedly signed as witnesses during the registration process, according to sources.
Investigators examine deleted photos and financial trail
As part of the investigation, police are trying to recover deleted photographs from a private Instagram account. The images reportedly showed Goyal and Chaudhary wearing wedding garlands and could form part of the evidence if retrieved.
Officials are also examining Chaudhary’s bank transactions. Investigators are looking into whether any payments were allegedly made to bypass the mandatory public notice period prescribed under the Special Marriage Act.
According to investigators, the alleged conspiracy intensified after Agarwal’s family sought Goyal’s documents to complete formalities for the couple’s planned destination wedding in Udaipur.
Police allege murder was planned in advance
Agarwal, a 25-year-old realtor based in Pune, died after falling from a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18.
Police suspect he was murdered as part of a pre-planned conspiracy. Investigators allege Goyal was unwilling to proceed with the arranged marriage.
According to the investigation, Agarwal met Goyal through a family-arranged match, and the two became engaged earlier this year. Police allege that Chaudhary followed the couple to Lohagad Fort on the day of the incident as part of the alleged conspiracy.
Investigators also claim to have recovered evidence that includes deleted messages, online searches and other material suggesting preparations in the days leading up to Agarwal’s death.
Police further allege that Goyal and Chaudhary searched Google and YouTube for different ways to kill Agarwal before allegedly deciding that pushing him from the fort would be the easiest method.
During questioning, investigators claim Goyal told them she did not want to marry Agarwal. She allegedly said she conspired with Chaudhary because she believed cancelling the wedding would bring disrepute to her family.
Both Goyal and Chaudhary remain in judicial custody.
