The company added that this decision was made in light of what it described as current developments, without going into further specifics about what those developments were.
Before addressing the removal itself, Zee5 took a moment to acknowledge how well the film had performed with viewers. According to the platform, the response to Satluj since its release had been truly overwhelming.
The statement expressed deep gratitude to every viewer who subscribed, watched, and supported the film, adding that this response meant a great deal to the platform and to everyone involved in bringing the story to life.
Standing by the film’s vision
Zee5 was clear about where it stood on the film itself, separate from decision to pull it. The statement said the platform stands firmly by Satluj and creative vision behind it by expressing belief in power of storytelling to inspire, endure, and leave lasting impact.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to championing authentic and meaningful narratives going forward.
What happens to the film now
Zee5 confirmed that Satluj will remain unavailable in India until further notice. The platform said it plans to explore every appropriate avenue through due process in an effort to bring the film back to audiences as soon as possible.
Satluj was originally titled Punjab 95 before its eventual release. The project had already gone through a lengthy battle against censorship issues before it finally made its way to a digital release on Zee5.
