Buoyed by its improved vote share in the recent Assembly elections, the BJP has launched its ‘Mission 2029’ campaign in Kerala with an eye on winning multiple seats in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

Building on its historic breakthrough in the May 2026 Kerala Assembly elections, when the party won three seats for the first time and secured 24.66 lakh votes, the BJP leadership is implementing a structural grassroots revamp to expand its support base. The party has drawn up a strategic roadmap aimed at securing at least 30 lakh additional votes and winning multiple Lok Sabha seats in the state in 2029.

The BJP’s state unit is shifting into high gear with specific organisational targets designed to move beyond its traditional support base and challenge the long-standing dominance of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF).

According to an internal BJP document, party workers have been instructed to organise monthly political programmes at the booth, Assembly constituency and district levels as part of preparations for the 2029 general elections.

In a strategic move to establish itself as the principal opposition force in the state, the BJP leadership has directed its grassroots workers to actively reach out to former CPI(M) supporters and weaken traditional Left strongholds.

According to party sources, the strategy emphasises a top-down operational approach aimed at transforming historically resilient CPI(M) “party villages” into BJP strongholds. The party has also instructed its cadres to capitalise on political opportunities by aggressively promoting the “Congress-League-Jamaat-e-Islami alliance” narrative that featured prominently during the recent election campaign.

The BJP has proposed a rigorous year-round organisational calendar in Kerala, mandating monthly political campaigns at the booth, Assembly constituency and district levels to systematically erode the support base of both the CPI(M) and the Congress.

As part of ‘Mission 2029’, the party has introduced digital guidance through the ‘Saral’ app, a 72-page organisational handbook, and mandatory 24-hour residential training camps for leaders above the rank of Area General Secretary. These camps are aimed at identifying and grooming promising leaders for future elections.

The campaign will primarily focus on highlighting the development initiatives undertaken during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 12 years in office while sustaining a strong narrative against Opposition alliances.

The first phase of statewide constituency-level camps, led by senior BJP leader Kummanam Rajasekharan and youth leader Yuvaraj Gokul, is currently underway and is scheduled to continue until July 20.
