Ram Temple donation theft: Akhilesh Yadav says BJP betrayed both Lord Ram, Constitution

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday, July 1, launched a scathing attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the alleged embezzlement of donations at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, accusing it of betraying “Lord Ram” as well as Constitutional values.

Invoking the idea of ‘Maryada’ during a press conference, the former chief minister alleged that the saffron party was only concerned about the flow of donations.

“The Bharatiya Janata Party is betraying Lord Ram. The first name of ‘Maryada’ (righteousness) is Lord Shri Ram, and the second is the Constitution; BJP has betrayed both. The danger for the BJP is that donations or charity might stop,” ANI quoted Yadav as saying.

“अब बीजेपी सांसदों को तोड़कर संविधान बदलना चाहती है, पहला नाम मर्यादा का श्री राम हैं दूसरा संविधान है और भारतीय जनता पार्टी दोनों को दगा दे रही है।”

Talking about the alleged theft of offerings made by devotees at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Samajwadi Party leader hoped that all the valuables be restored. “Whether or not the truth comes out, at least the silver should be returned, the gold should be returned, the diamonds and jewellery should be returned. The golden khadau and silver khadau should be returned,” he said.

Addressing a press conference in Lucknow on his birthday, Yadav claimed that after the electorate “saved the Constitution” in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the ruling party was now making efforts to weaken it by engineering defections of opposition MPs.

“The people saved the Constitution through their vote. Now the BJP wants to change the Constitution by poaching opposition MPs. This is a very serious issue,” he said.

He stated that the latest developments surrounding the Ram Temple has politically exposed the BJP, PTI reported.

“By the grace of Lord Ram, what has happened has exposed them. Lord Ram himself has revealed their true face and shown the country the right direction,” Yadav said.
