‘Baahubali 3’ is coming, but nobody is saying when: What Prabhas, Rana and Anushka actually said

Rana Daggubati started a sentence and never finished it. Prabhas held up three fingers and smiled. That was enough to convince the entire internet that ‘Baahubali 3’ is coming.

Nobody confirmed anything. Nobody denied it either. And somehow, that was enough to set the internet on fire.

A clip from the new Netflix documentary series ‘Baahubali: The Torchbearer’ has gone viral, and for one very specific reason. In the footage, Rana Daggubati begins a sentence he does not finish. He says the world may not be ready yet, but there will be a Baahubali, and then stops. Prabhas, sitting nearby, holds up three fingers and smiles. Anushka Shetty laughs. The clip ends with the words: “And the legacy continues.”

That was all it took.

According to a review of the documentary, Rana, Prabhas, and Anushka state in the end cards that there is no stage yet, but Baahubali 3 will happen. No timeline. No director confirmation. And, no official announcement. But the internet has largely moved past those details.

What the documentary actually is

Baahubali: The Torchbearer is a Telugu-exclusive documentary series featuring four episodes, each with a runtime of under 40 minutes. It traces the journey of the franchise from its earliest days, covering the making of the films, the financial hurdles, production experiences, and several untold moments from behind the scenes.

The documentary premiered on Netflix on June 26, 2026, with a simultaneous global release. The series features SS Rajamouli, Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sathyaraj, and Nassar, among others.

It covers the production setbacks and financial crises the cast and crew faced while making the franchise. Producer Shobu Yarlagadda is also featured.

The Baahubali franchise

Baahubali: The Beginning released in 2015. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion followed in 2017 and became one of the highest-grossing Indian films ever made. Both were directed by SS Rajamouli and produced under ARKA Media Works. In November 2025, a combined version of both films titled Baahubali: The Epic was released in cinemas with a runtime of nearly four hours.

The franchise turned Prabhas into a pan-India star. Rana Daggubati and Anushka Shetty also gained significant national recognition through the films.

What Rajamouli is doing now

SS Rajamouli is currently in the middle of Varanasi, his next directorial venture starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film is scheduled to release on April 7, 2027. Rajamouli has not made any statement about Baahubali 3 in connection with the documentary.

Prabhas, too, has not given a formal statement on a third film.
