Nobody warned investors. Nobody came running. And yet, the film is now past ₹50 crore worldwide. That, in short, is the story of ‘Maa Inti Bangaaram’. At the film’s success meet, Raj Nidimoru spoke about the reception the film has received and how it compares to his earlier work. He said he got greater appreciation for ‘Maa Inti Bangaaram’ than he did for ‘Stree’ or ‘The Family Man’. “We did so much in Hindi. The Family Man and Stree came and became blockbusters, but I got greater appreciation for Maa Inti Bangaaram than I did for them. So it is very special. This one hit home,” he said.
He also noted that audience reaction cut across all theatre types. “I was thrilled to see single screens to multiplexes hooting and clapping,” he said.

Nobody wanted to back it
Raj was candid about how difficult it was to get the film off the ground. He drew a parallel with ‘Stree’, which also struggled to find backing before it became a blockbuster. According to him, ‘Maa Inti Bangaaram’ faced a similar wall.
“It was not like investors were coming running to us. We were genuinely worried about things like the OTT sale. When we were designing the movie, we wanted to use Samantha’s skill set to elevate the film, but we had budget constraints and a tight schedule. There was also a risk because people were saying so many things about her at the time,” he said.
He also revealed that Samantha herself was reluctant to take on another film. “Samantha never wanted to make more films, but I asked her to do one more,” Raj added.
What the numbers say
As of its fifth day in theatres, ‘Maa Inti Bangaaram’ had crossed ₹30 crore in India, with a worldwide gross of ₹51.32 crore and overseas collections of ₹15.85 crore.
The film released on June 19, 2026, and opened to ₹6.2 crore on its first day in India across 2,658 shows. Collections grew through the weekend. Trade estimates suggest the film is on course to close its first week at between ₹35 crore and ₹38 crore gross.
