The podium finish marked India’s second medal in the mixed 4x400m relay at the Asian Relays Championships, having won gold in the inaugural edition in Bangkok in 2024.

India also secured bronze in the mixed 4x100m relay through a team featuring Animesh Kujur, Pranav Gurav, Tamanna and Sneha Shanuvalli. The quartet crossed the line in 41.47 seconds, narrowly missing the national record of 41.35 seconds that was set at the World Relays earlier this year.

Thailand won gold in the event with a timing of 41.14 seconds, while China finished second in 41.29 seconds.

The strong showing in Shangyu comes at a crucial stage of the season as Indian relay teams continue preparations for major international competitions, including the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.

India will also host the next edition of the Asian Relays Championships in Chandigarh in 2027, following the successful staging of the inaugural event in Bangkok in 2024, where the country won one gold and two silver medals.
