CM Saini’s remarks
Speaking to the media after the screening, CM Saini said: “I have said that such motivational films, which inspire us, should be watched by all of us. We will declare this tax-free in Haryana because this inspires us and makes us feel our duties.”
Saini said the country’s real strength lies not only in its government or armed forces but in the character, courage, and commitment to service of ordinary citizens. He praised the film for being a powerful narrative of courage, compassion, duty, and humanity.
The CM noted that during moments of terror and fear, many individuals risked their lives to protect others. He said society often celebrates public figures but the true strength of the nation lies in doctors, nurses, police personnel, security forces, and social workers who perform their duties without seeking recognition.
Recalling the COVID-19 pandemic, Saini pointed out that healthcare workers stayed away from their families and worked tirelessly to save lives. He said this proved that service is the highest form of duty.
The CM also praised the film’s portrayal of women. He said Indian women are not only the backbone of families but also a transformative force in society, capable of turning compassion into duty during times of crisis.
About the film
The film released nationwide on June 12, 2026. It is directed by Manoj Tapadia. The story is set against the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and centres on the siege of Cama Hospital. The film depicts how doctors, nurses, and hospital staff protected nearly 400 patients, including pregnant women, from armed Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists. Kangana Ranaut plays Nurse Geeta, a character based on real-life nurse Anjali Kulthe.
The film has been receiving critical attention for placing the cinematic focus on civilian healthcare workers rather than armed combatants during the attacks.
CM links film to Operation Sindoor
Saini also connected the film’s themes to India’s current stance on national security. He said the pain of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks was shared by the entire country. He added that India lost innocent citizens and brave security personnel in the attacks but refused to bow before terrorism.
Saini stated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India does not compromise on its security and sovereignty. He said: “Today, India is fighting a decisive battle against terrorism, and India now strikes terrorists in their own dens. Operation Sindoor is the latest and most vivid example of this resolve.”
Delhi also grants tax-free status
Delhi also granted the film tax-free status. CM Rekha Gupta made the announcement and praised the film for its cultural and social significance. During the Delhi screening, CM Gupta said that dedication, service, and patriotism are not limited to those in uniform, and that every Indian steps up for the country when it matters most.
Kangana Ranaut expressed gratitude for both tax-free declarations, saying the move would help the film reach more citizens across the country.
Union Minister also praises the film
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari attended the grand premiere of the film in Mumbai. He praised it for its realistic portrayal of the bravery shown by nurses during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
