Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was served another notice by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Monday, asking him to appear before its headquarters Bhawani Bhavan on Tuesday (June 9, 2026).
CID officials visited Banerjee’s residence on Monday while the latter was at Delhi to attend the Opposition INDIA bloc meeting. Reports indicate that three officers from the probe agency arrived at his Kalighat Road house, serving him notice to appear before its office on Tuesday.

The CID is investigating a case involving the forgery of signatures at the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. CID officials have questioned his repeated avoidance of the summons and deliberately failing to cooperate with the investigation.
Banerjee was first summoned via a notice issued on May 30. It was the same day that he faced public outrage while en route to visit the home of a deceased party worker in Sonarpur. Subsequently, citing illness, he skipped the initial CID summons scheduled for June 1.
Banerjee had requested a 15-day extension to appear before the agency at Bhabani Bhaban, but was directed to appear before it within seven days, which ends on June 8.
However, the senior TMC leader avoided the second summons by writing a letter to the agency seeking additional time from the probe body. Banerjee instead travelled to Delhi over the weekend for the opposition bloc meeting.
