Three people died and four others went missing after an Innova SUV they were travelling in plunged into River Ganga on Tuesday. The deceased included a woman; one youth was rescued safely and rushed to the nearby hospital.

Uttarakhand State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) informed that bodies of the three victims were retrieved from Innova vehicle number UK08TA 5433 while the youth was rescued safely even as search for the four missing persons was still on. SDRF, in its statement, said the driver lost control of the ill-fated Innova leading the vehicle to plunge into a deep gorge and submerge into Ganga River.

SDRF claimed that eight persons were travelling in the vehicle including driver and seven others. “Bodies of three persons including a woman were recovered by the rescue team from the fallen vehicle. A youth who was severly injured was rescued safely and taken to the nearby hospital while four missing passengers remained untraceable” read SDRF statement.
According to SDRF, a rescue team from its Byasi-based post at Devprayag was dispatched to the accident site with all required equipments on the directions of Commandant Arpan Yaduvanshi. The rescuers launched the search and rescue operation in the highly challenging conditions of the deep river basin and surrounding areas.
