Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan said on Monday that his government aims to make the state a global education destination by establishing premier centres of excellence that attract both local and international students.

Inaugurating the state-level Pravesanolsavam (school reopening festival) at the Government Model Higher Secondary School in Pattom, Satheesan said his government’s aim is to make Kerala a destination point for education, to bring premier educational institutions directly to Kerala so that local students do not feel forced to migrate overseas for high-quality higher education.

He said, “Children should study their desired course in the world’s best institutions, while our mission will be to bring such centres of excellence to Kerala. I give my word that such institutions attracting even foreign students will take shape here.”
He said that the state will establish dedicated Nehru Centres of Scientific Temper, named after India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, with the aim to build a strong scientific foundation at the school level, counter superstition and adapt to technological shifts.
