A disturbing video shared by underground Punjabi rapper Gurpreet Singh, popularly known as Gopi Longia, has triggered widespread concern on social media after the artist appeared to injure his own finger while speaking about his struggles within the Punjabi music industry and the emotional toll of speaking out on social issues.

The video, which has rapidly gone viral, has shocked fans and reignited conversations around mental stress, isolation, and pressure faced by independent artists in the Punjabi entertainment industry.

In the emotional video message, Longia spoke about what he described as years of criticism, rejection, and neglect despite consistently raising issues affecting Punjab through his music. The rapper claimed that people had continuously “pointed fingers” at him and his work, leading him to symbolically cut the same finger in frustration.

He said he would preserve the severed finger as a “gift” and even claimed that he intended to turn it into a pendant to wear around his neck as a reminder of the negativity and accusations directed toward him over the years.

Longia alleged that despite using his earnings from rap music to promote local talent and highlight serious issues such as drugs, unemployment, and the realities faced by Punjab’s youth, he was sidelined by the mainstream industry and denied major platforms.

Reflecting on his mental and financial struggles, the rapper said he no longer had the same passion or resources left after years of fighting through the industry. “People say hearing the truth is painful, but speaking the truth is painful too,” he said in the video.

The rapper also informed fans that he had recently released a new track in which he has expressed the emotional trauma, disappointments, and industry battles he has faced over the past seven years.

Gopi Longia is regarded as one of Punjab’s well-known underground rappers and lyricists, recognised for addressing social realities and youth issues rather than focusing on commercial music trends. He rose to prominence with his rap tracks “Ud Da Punjab” and “Ud Da Punjab 2”, which dealt with the issues of drug abuse and unemployment in Punjab and gained significant popularity among young listeners.

The viral video has prompted concern among fans and social media users, many of whom urged the artist to seek support and avoid self-harm.
