In a shocking incident, Delhi Police on Monday morning recovered the body of a 38-year-old man found hanging from a tree near the Yamuna Khadar area in Burari.

The deceased was later identified as Akhilesh, who belonged to the Burari area and reportedly used to work as an autorickshaw driver.

According to IANS, Akhilesh’s family members have told people officials that he left the house at 10 p.m. on Sunday after having his dinner. He is said to have informed them that he was stepping out to buy some items, but did not return home.

On Monday morning, locals – out for a morning walk – discovered Akhilesh’s body hanging from a tree near the Yamuna Khadar stretch. Soon after, they called police.

Later on, officials from the Wazirabad Police Station arrived at the spot and took his body into custody. They have launched an investigation into the matter to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death.

Shocked by the incident, Akhilesh’s family members have demanded for a thorough investigation into the case.

“My daughter called me and told me that Akhilesh bhaiya had died. Then I came here today. I do not know much about what happened or how it happened. He used to drive an autorickshaw here,” IANS quoted a relative as saying.

Another relative of the deceased noted that Akhilesh left house at around 10 p.m. last night and did not return. “Then, information spread that he was found hanging from a tree. We want a proper investigation into the matter. He had no dispute with anyone,” the person added.

As of now, police officials have said that they will determine the exact cause of death after the post-mortem examination.
