The state Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma here on Friday evening, moved and passed the resolution, which stated: “It is a matter of great joy and pride for all Indians that the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations has conferred this medal upon our Prime Minister. The Prime Minister received the award from Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the FAO. Modi dedicated the honour to Indian farmers and the Indian agricultural scientific community, who work tirelessly to ensure food security and nutrition for Indians as well as people around the world.

In his brief remarks at the medal conferment ceremony, Modi said, “This recognition is a tribute to India’s commitment to human welfare, food security and sustainable development.”

He stated that over the last 10 years, India has developed around 3,000 climate-resilient crop varieties. The Prime Minister noted that India’s science-driven agriculture is strengthening global food security, particularly for countries in the Global South.
