The Madhya Pradesh is learnt to have initiated an internal inquiry against retired judge Giribala Singh, the mother-in-law of former Miss Pune Twisha Sharma (33), who was found dead under mysterious circumstances, allegedly by hanging, at Giribala Singh’s house in Bhopal on 11 May.

Giribala Singh is presently working as the Chairperson of the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission at Bhopal.

According to sources, the officials of the State Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection Department have written to the Registrar of the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission that an FIR under the provisions of dowry death and cruelty has been registered at the Katra Hills police station against Giribala Singh in the Twisha Sharma case.

The letter further states that in light of the criminal case registered against Giribala Singh, the state government has ordered an inquiry against Singh under Rule 9 (2) of the Consumer Protection (Qualification for Appointment, Method of Recruitment, Procedure of Appointment, Term of Office, Resignation and Removal of President and Members of State Commission and District Commission) Rules, 2020.

Sources said the state government has asked the Registrar to conduct an inquiry into the case registered against Giribala Singh and submit the inquiry at the earliest.
