Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha took to Instagram on Wednesday, May 20, to share a video with her husband Zaheer Iqbal, joining the viral Melody meme trend.

The video referenced the toffee’s classic tagline, “Melody khao, khud jaan jao”, which translates to “eat Melody, find out yourself.”
What is the Melody meme?
The Melodi trend took over social media on May 20 after Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni shared a video of PM Narendra Modi gifting her a packet of Melody toffees.
In the video, Meloni said, “Prime Minister Modi brought us a gift. A very, very good toffee, Melody,” as both leaders shared a laugh.
The term “Melodi” is a portmanteau of the names Modi and Meloni. It has been used on social media since the two leaders first met at international forums.
The viral numbers
Searches for “melody chocolate” jumped by nearly 1,200 percent after the video went viral. Searches for “Parle Melody” reportedly surged by around 4,750 percent, while “melody toffee” searches rose by nearly 950 percent.
Names like “Parle” and “Melody” became the most searched terms on Google and X. The viral moment also drove up the share price of Parle Industries, with its stock hitting the upper circuit, though it has no connection with the company that actually makes Melody chocolates.
The bigger Bollywood trend
Other Bollywood celebrities also joined the trend, including Kriti Kharbanda and Ravi Kishan.
Kriti Kharbanda shared pictures dressed in earthy brown tones matching the toffee’s colour. She captioned it: “Yeh melody itni chocolatey kyun hai,” referencing PM Modi’s candy gift to Meloni.
